Michelle Jamieson

I believe that life is a beautiful gift, and that as educators, we shape the future of every student we come in contact with by showing them how to be fully engaged in their lives. We create space to allow their creativity to flourish and help them discover who they really are and glimpse who they might become.

I relish helping people use the tools of mindfulness to enrich their lives and the lives of those around them. I feel most alive when I am running, listening to the sounds of the world and the rhythm of my breath. It is the same quiet feeling one experiences when sitting on a deck with a warm cup of coffee at the start of a brand new day or playing a beautiful etude on stage in an empty recital hall.

In addition to being a Band Director and Music Educator, Michelle Jamieson has been leading mindfulness programs for adults, teens, and children for the past eight years, working in schools, corporations, and medical centers all across the Sacramento area. She has participated in training in Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) under the direction of Jon Kabat-Zinn and has completed training through Mindful Schools. Prior to joining the Institute for Health and Healing at Sutter Health, Michelle led mindfulness and wellness courses for employees at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN. She is passionate about sharing the tools of mindfulness through music, movement, and meditation to help people embrace life and live it to the fullest.
